Inspiration for art is everywhere. Here's some from the Art Journal Emporium.
Book Club
We are in Exploration #5 now and I’m anxiously waiting to see what art-spired works will show up in the classroom.
Dianne’s page gives us a great mantra to art by.
The Daily Art Dose
One word challenges can sometimes be harder than you would think, but these takes on the challenges are fantastic.
Liz did her #thedailyartdose on ATC cards. Quick. Easy. Awesome.
I couldn’t pass up adding Marilyn’s ‘clarity’ tangle. The Sherlock fan in me would not allow it.
February’s Tangerine Telescope
Have you gotten yours yet? I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
February Challenge
Challenge issued…and…go.
I love Cindy’s valentine take on the challenge.
Lou Ann is going for a more home-y approach that is absolutely gorgeous.
The Patchwork Heart—ah, there is something so perfect and resilient about this work by Jan.
Artist Trading Card Project
This is technically a project from last month, but it is still going strong.
Kay’s atc is simple and all the better for it! I love the word strips and shadow effects.
Turmoil is the word of the day for Karon and her ATC really reflects it.
Don’t forget to check back…new inspiration is on the shelves all the time!
Post your inspired art on social media with the tags #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose so we can all see them too!

Welcome to February! Love is in the air and thoughts of springtime are just around the corner...
It is a new month but the members of the Art Journal Emporium are still going strong. Several members are still working on the book club prompts and February has brought us a whole new Daily Art Dose mini-inspirations. Best of all, the new Grab Bag for February was released today. Today only you can get it for just $6.
As always, if you want to see more of our work, check out the classrooms in the Emporium or look on social media with the tags: #artjournalemporim and #thedailyartdose.
Book Club
There have recently been some awe-inspiring works of art posted in the book club.
Kay did this amazing elephant by drawing over her journaled words. She says there is “lots of writing over the top going the other way, upside down, backwards, messy.” Fantastic, I say. Proof that there is no reason to hide your art with deep personal journaling.
Dianne’s page is a real inspiration to just get out there and start...
The Daily Art Dose
In this art-spiration clinic, we use one word mini prompts to make mini-masterpieces.
Marilyn created this beauty from the prompt ‘dramatize.’
Kay’s dedicated this month to working on lettering, not that she needs practice from these examples.
ATC’s and other stuff
Ildi made this great card showing how many of us are working on ATC’s this year.
Tracy took the ATC idea a step further and made a mini journaling card.
I love this mixed media piece by Mindy. It is perfect for February!
That’s it for this week but be sure to check back next week when we will have even more amazing art to share.

Since the month ended this weekend, I saved my weekly review for a day so I could cover the entire month of the Art Journal Emporium. It has been a whirlwind month, hasn't it? There's been so much inspiration flowing, projects to work on, printables and downloadables...Oh my!
What we worked on:
- The Daily Art Dose - 10 minute daily inspirations for bringing more art into your daily life.
Liz made this one for the word 'instrument.'
And I LOVE this take on 'pretend' from Crystal.
- The January Book Club - This book has not only been a fantastic read, but a great source of inspiration and motivation for many of the Emporium members.
Kay did this mini-masterpiece in the style of Susan Branch.
This work by Jenny takes one of the beginning challenges of our book club and just knocks it out of the park.
- The Tangerine Telescope Zine made its debut much to the delight of the collective Emporium.
- ATC: Words to Live by Project - Such amazing work was done on this idea. Check out our other blog posts for some additional highlights as well.
I really like this simple, but interesting ATC that Kay made. It uses Tangie's Melt Into Springs kit.
Marilyn made this recycled ATC with nothing but bits of otherwise trash paper and washi tape! Pretty awesome way to recycle if you ask me.
- Get Out of that Funk and Back into Art - Sometimes the art just doesn't flow. This add-on artspiration has some useful tips to unblocking your creative flow.
Cathy made this 'unFunked' work of art for her journal.
- Downloads - The shelves of the Emporium just keep filling up with new goodies to download. We've had collage sheets, a gorgeous little set of digital scatters, a preview page for a new line of templates (how cool is that?!?) and a new set of BeMused cards!
What a fantastic way to start the year! I can't wait to see what is in store for us next month.
Been inspired by the work you see here? Join the Emporium for February.

Welcome back to the Emporium!
We are in the home stretch for January. If you haven’t downloaded the collage sheets yet, make sure that you do before the end of the month.
What we are creating
The ATC project has really taken off. Everyone has put their own spin on the cards and that. Is. Fantastic.
Fonda was really getting into the ATC spirit this day…
Marilyn made this card (front and back shown) with just pieces of recycled ephemera. Yes, that is a fancy term for trash. I love that the card is simple, but still has a powerful message.
I ‘love’ the texture on Carolyn’s card!
Art explorers are also still creating fantastic mini-masterpieces in The Daily Art Dose.
Crystal did this one with a colossal prompt.
I had to add another of Crystal’s because I absolutely love her little green doll. It makes me want to go make one myself. Here's the kit if you want to make one.
Lastly, Marilyn was artspired by the word demonstrate.
That’s all for today. Don’t forget to tag the images you post on social media with #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose!

We are rounding on the last part of the month, but the Art Journal Emporium is still going strong. Our art can be seen in the classroom and on social media following the tags of #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose.
Art Journal Emporium Book Club
The book club has just started on chapter 8, but here is a look at some of our work from chapter 7.
Both of these pieces were done while listening to music. Can you guess what they were listening to?
Balinda did this one of pretty sunflowers.
This watercolor is by Crystal.
I can’t wait to see what we do in chapter 8!
The Daily Art Dose
With a thought of just give yourself ten minutes, everyday, to create something, The Daily Art Dose was born. Here’s a look at what we’ve been doing.
Carol took our prompt of ‘quick’ literally and whipped this beauty up in about ten minutes.
Cindy’s layout used the same prompt, but to implore the seasons to move a little faster.
Artist Trading Cards: Words to Live By Project
This project is really taking off. ATCs can be found EVERYWHERE.
Cathy made this ATC with a quote to live by.
This happy looking ATC was made by Joy.
Shari’s ATC for ‘serenity’ really fits the bill. I love the soft flowers and the colored edging around her word strip.
Tangible Planner
Are your planners done? Have you seen the new printables that Tangie has put out? If you are like me and doing two months at a time, these new products will do most of the work for you! Check them out here: Print and Go No. 1 and 2015 Printable Calendar add on.
If you are a member of the Emporium and want to make sure you don’t miss anything, please check back regularly and check the ‘New Deliveries Log.’ There are new things popping up all the time.
If you want to get in on all the fun, come join the Art Journal Emporium.

Welcome back to the Emporium!
New since our last post
Have you seen the Collage Sheets yet? And the videos delivered with them? If not, you should. The Art Journal Emporium is tying everything together this month by making Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)—with collage pages—using our inspiring words. Warning: Grab a pack of playing cards and a glue stick before watching…you will be inspired.
What’s going on right now
Activities this month in the Art Journal Emporium include the Daily Art Dose (which has some ah-maz-ing artwork in it), the Words to Live By Project (done in artist trading cards), My Word of the Year 2015 workshop, and the January Book Workshop. But that’s not all, there is also the printed zine (if that is part of your subscription (more info here)), 10 fantastic Collage sheets for January as well as some Book Club inspired handouts and tips from Tangie’s studio.
What we are creating
Today I decided to look on social media networks to see what our art explorers are sharing there.
#TheDailyArtDose tag on Instagram was used on some fantastic art. Here are a few that caught my eye.
Alisa made some artist trading cards. Looks like the beginning of something grand!
Kay’s sketch is so cute and I love that she has some writing scattered all around this page.
Balinda’s experiment with her new pens shows us that making our art, and sharing it, doesn’t mean it has to always be ‘finished.’
Finally, Cindy’s photo shows us that art isn’t always made with pen (or paint, crayon, etc.) and paper but can be made in any medium.
That’s all for today. Don’t forget to tag the images you post on social media with #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose!

The Art Journal Emporium is about halfway through the first month of the year with no indications of slowing down any time soon. Explorers in the Emporium found a new download this week inspired by the Art Journal Emporium book club and they continued to work other inspiring projects.
Art Journal Emporium Book Club
We’re working our way through The Confident Creative and having a great time doing it.
I love this layout by Dianne! The colors are gorgeous and the message is just what we all need to hear from time to time.
This page by Balinda really made me smile and I loved the quote!
The Daily Art Dose
With a thought of just give yourself ten minutes, everyday, to create something, The Daily Art Dose was born. Here’s a look at what we’ve been doing.
I love how Crystal put our inspiration word ‘sneak” so colorfully and so stealthily into the image here. We should all let art sneak into our brains!
Marilyn C. is rocking these zentangles everyday. Here is her interpretation of sidewalk.
Artist Trading Cards: Words to Live By Project
ATCs are great fun whether you do them digitally or as mixed media. I think we have a little of both going on in this artspiration zone.
Anne Lou created this colorful ATC digitally. It says, “I breathe ART” and we agree!
These two ATCs made by Kris T. are fantastic with bursts of warm colors.
Word of the Year
The artists in the Art Journal Emporium are still keeping *focused* on our words for the year. This page by Penny shows just how focused she is.
If you are a member of the Emporium and want to make sure you don’t miss anything, please check back regularly and check the ‘New Deliveries Log.’ There are new things popping up all the time.
If you want to see more of what we’ve been doing in the Art Journal Emporium you can search for our shared pieces on social media with the tags: #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose. Better yet, come join the Art Journal Emporium and get in on the fun.
I intended to write and post this yesterday, but you know how sometimes the day just gets away from you? That was my day yesterday. Sorry, art explorers!

Art Journal Emporium members woke up to a fantastic surprise on Monday. The shelves of the Inspiration and Art section were flooded with great ideas for a new project!
For those of you with a subscription that includes the Tangerine Telescope, the new printed zine, you should probably have that in your mailbox by now. Isn’t it great?!? What are you doing with it? Share some of your inspired art with us!
Artist Trading Cards: Words to Live By Project
This fantastic endeavor was inspired by Kay O. with added insights from other members of the Emporium.
Here’s a look at some of Kay’s cards.
This ATC for “Wisdom by Carol A. is gorgeous.
The Daily Art Dose
Daily inspiration is still alive and well with January’s Daily Art Dose. Don’t forget to search for other images from our group on social media by using the #artjournalemporium and #thedailyartdose tags.
Tracey uses this to do her dailies. I think it is a great way to spend 10 minutes a day.
Tangible Plans Workshop
In case you missed it at the end of December we worked on our planners for the coming year. There were some great works of art going on in that workshop. Also, Tangie just announced some new add-ons for the Tangible Plans system. Here’s a link to that section of the shop (HINT: the workshop is still available if you want to jump in now!).
Here is a quick sample from Jen. E. of a planner page. By the way, I LOVE the orange rings!
Art Journal Emporium Book Club
Oh, we are in the good part of the book now! There has been all kinds of creative suggestions coming from the book and even more with Tangie’s thoughts and reflections. I cannot wait to see what our art explorers come up with!
Stay tuned for more creative and inspirational art in upcoming posts. If you want to get in on the fun, there is still time to join the Art Journal Emporium!
