Basics: 1 Art Journal Page 4 Ways
I'd love to share my project "Four Phases of Supplies" to help you get started in art journaling! Depending on your experience with art supplies you might fall into any one of these categories. Notice that I said the "Four Phases of Supplies" and not the "Four Phases of Artists". Your level of natural artistic talent is not what is important in art journaling. You are a creative being by birthright and that is all that matters here! What I'm hoping to convey with this project is that you can start art journaling in Phase 1 with almost nothing, then as you become more experienced using mixed-media supplies (and of course, collecting more supplies), you will be able to create a wider variety of styles in your journal.
Oh, there is one more thing I'd like to share with you before we begin! Please, don't fall captive to the debilitating thought that sounds something like this: "I'm terrible at art journaling, it didn't turn out how it was in my head!". Our brains are capable of imagining worlds within worlds, we have infinite imaginations that can invent new colors and species of flora in an instant, it's never, ever going to look like the gorgeous masterpiece in your mind. So let these "gremlin" type thoughts go, they are keeping you from the true joy of being creative! Let's pinky promise to let ourselves enjoy the process of creating, okay?
Here's to the journey,
PS! Each page in this project has ample room left on it for writing or journaling!
